Tancada lagoon
To jump group of several linksThis is the second-largest lagoon in the Delta, after Encanyissada. The two were once joined, but were separated by years spent drying the area to make it suitable for rice growing. The lagoon forms part of the Natural Park protected area.
The lagoon is surrounded by helophytes and freshwater vegetation (reeds, bulrush, cogongrass, etc.) which predominates, as well as halophytes plants adapted to salty terrain such as saltwort and glasswort.
The fauna typical of these freshwater lagoons includes reed birds, ducks and ardeids (purple heron, grey heron, etc.). The lagoon is also home to species of ducks, tern, waders, coot, cormorants, etc., and a colony of flamingo can usually also be observed here.
There is a birdwatching hide here, whilst a cycle lane route skirts part of the lagoon. Two of the oldest types of hut found in the Delta, now restored, can also be visited.
