Baltasar Springs
To jump group of several linksThese springs "ullals" are found on the border of the Ebro Delta and the inland regions, along the line from Amposta to Sant Carles de la Ràpita. These are underground freshwater bodies from Els Ports and Montsià mountains that surface on coming into contact with the impermeable clayish soil of the Ebro Delta. The springs lie between small crop fields in peaty soil produced by the decomposition of the vegetation that once covered long-lost lagoons here.
These springs occupy 55 hectares within the Ebro Delta Natural Park.
Surrounded by majestic eucalyptus, the Baltasar Springs contain a picnic and rest area, panels providing information about this peculiar ecosystem and a car and bicycle parking area.
