Amposta, Sports Tourism Destination
Amposta is located in privileged natural surroundings on the banks of the river Ebre. A gateway to the Ebre Delta and flanked by Els Ports de Beseit and Montsià hills, it is halfway between Barcelona and Valencia. Its pleasant Mediterranean climate is ideal for both sporting and tourist activities, especially in the mild winter months.
The town has several sports facilities that have produced a significant number of internationally successful athletes in a variety of sports. Consequently, it has become the base for the Terres de l'Ebre Sports Technification Centre, which is recognised by the Spanish National Sports Council.
A Sports Tourism Destination (Destinació de Turisme Esportiu, DTE) can offer athletes and teams a wide range of professional services and resources, complemented by several tourist attractions like the Ebro Delta Natural Park, its long beaches, the river Ebre, birdwatching and its unique typical cuisine.
